5th Generation iPod Nano

The 5th Generation iPod Nano is one of Apple's devices that go with its impressive improvements. This is the most popular music player nowadays. What's good about this is that it is packed to the gills with new video camera, FM radio, voice recording, Genius Mixes, a built-in speaker, and a larger screen compared to the first Apple iPod, it also gets a pedometer.

The device has the same size as the old one but differs physically only with its slightly larger screen and a bit smaller clickwheel. The new iPod Nano is slightly larger 2.2-inch screen (up from 2 inches) and a glossy, polished aluminum. The new larger screen can now display up to 12 lines of menu text (up from 10) and the Now Playing screen lists artist, album, and title information in three bolder, more readable lines at the top of the screen. Apple's iconic click wheel can still be found in front of the device, just below the curved glass screen. The click wheel is just an inch wide but its operation is no less instinctive and responsive than the larger wheels on other iPods. Still the hold button can be found on top of the device. Its headphone jack and the off-center dock connection are still found on its button but are reversed in position that can make the user be curious.

This also carries more new features than any of more on the outside revised predecessors. But there's an easy way to tell immediately that the one that you're holding is the 5th generation iPod Nano. Just flip it over and then you'll notice right away a bead-size video camera on its lower left side.

The Nano's camera is easy to use, letting you to jump right into recording after only two clicks from the main menu. Its 640x480-pixel resolution and MP4/H.264 video recording format (bit rates range between 2,500Kbps and 2,800Kbps) works natively in iTunes and most video playback software as well as video streaming Web sites including YouTube, Flickr, and Facebook. Apple's 5G iPod Nano can store an imposing 16 hrs of recorded video in its 8GB of storage.

Even with the Nano's ever-growing stable of features, music playback is still the beating heart of this iPod.
The lens runs flush with the Nano's aluminum body, but if the worn-and-scratched back of our fourth-generation Nano is any indication, we advise investing in a protective case to keep the camera in good working order.

In order for the device to be protected in any damages such as scratches, scuffs and much more, Shield Skins is the best for you. Shield Skins is an invisible protection for any devices that can make your device stay god-looking as what it is when you first took it off from its box.

How Long Does an iPod Touch Battery Last?

The wonders of the future never cease to amaze us as time goes on. Now a common household product name, Apple has a revolutionary new product in the iPod Touch with the ability to play TV and video, support thousands of games and almost every audio format out there - but how long will the fun last before the battery is depleted?

The Apple website has the iTouch's battery life rated at 36 hours, which means that if the iPod is on shuffle and the screen is dark, music will play until then. They also have the video playback time listed at 6 hours, which is when the iTouch is nonstop playing movies or video. However, there is a darker side to this story.

Many users report the iTouch out of the case having a consistent battery expectency of 16-22 hours for music, and 3-4 hours of video and game usage, which are the most extreme users of battery life games being even moreso due to the fact that games are highly interactive, colorful, and some can even use the WiFi connection in addition to draining the battery as extensively as a movie. The reasons for the spectrum being so broad can be for any number of reasons, though. There are many background processes that all use up a portion of the total battery life for the iTouch. If one were to turn off the WiFi, battery life can be improved. Screen brightness is also a huge portion of determining how much battery life can be drained. If operating the iTouch in a dark room or during the evening, the brightness can be turned down anywhere from 10-25% and still be easily viewable for the average user. It has also been reported that the Auto Brightness feature, though designed to be a courtesy option, can also drain the battery life rather than preserve it.

All sorts of things can determine what exactly will alter the life of the iTouch battery. There are even applications available on the Apple Application Store that can show exactly how much battery life remains for specific actions, easily searchable and free to download that work for both the iTouch and the iPhone. Regardless of all the specific details, there are numerous ways to change and preserve the battery life of an iTouch. Be it 4 hours of video or 22 hours of music, a conscientious consumer can get the most out of their iPod's with ease.

5 Best Camera Apps For the iPhone

Why Apple is brilliant -- reason #143. They even know how to make money when they are doing things wrong.

You can't tell me that a $600 phone couldn't have a camera with a zoom feature. But Apple was selling a community and a concept: You bought it for the phone, you stayed for the Apps. What better way to get the first camera apps started, than by crippling the pre-packaged software? But even Apple's diabolical marketers could not predict what came next.

From straightforward camera enhancers to facial-recognition bar games, developers created awesome apps to "fix" the iPhone. Here are 5 of the best camera apps for iPhone--enjoy!

Gorillacam, Joby, Inc.; Free. This is definitely the best app for making the built-in camera do what it's supposed to do, and is arguably the best general-purpose camera enhancer out there. It doesn't fool around with much in the way of finessing the photo; it just gives the photographer the tools to take the best possible shot. In addition to common-sense "tap anywhere" shooting and up to 4x zoom, Gorillacam features a bubble level; a "rule of thirds" grid overlay; unlimited rapid fire at 1.6 pictures per second; 3-shot bursts; self-timer; time-lapse; and anti-shake. Gorillacam is all about the photography. Period.

Best Camera, Chase Jarvis; $2.99. Renowned photographer Chase Jarvis is behind this one, and it lets you apply filters gleaned from the work of guess who. Yeah, Chase Jarvis. The filters are simple and not adjustable--if you want Photoshop on your iPhone, you'll have to wait a bit. But you can layer the filters over one another to create some interesting effects, and Best Camera loves to share: Twitter, Facebook, and e-mail are all just a tap away. Like all serious camera enhancement apps, of course, Best Camera zooms just fine.

Self Portrait Camera, Presselite; $.99. It takes your picture, you bloody narcissist. Yes, you, in all your glory. Or you and a friend. It insists your face(s) be in the center of the shot, which should suit you just fine. Set the iPhone someplace level or hold it up, and leave the ringer on--SPC tells you when it's time for your closeup. "Three... two... one..." and presto! It's You, on your iPhone. You, you, you!

Night Shot, John Smith; $.99. There are a variety of flash, low-lighting, or night photography apps (depending on how they phrase the genre,) but none does as nice a job. You don't have to say "...but at least it got a picture" whenever you show off your handiwork, and it's packed with features. 2MP output, 3MP on GS.

Snap Judgment Fun Pack, Blindside Studio LLC; $2.99. There's no accounting for taste, and our taste sometimes runs to the absurd. That's what Blindside's selling in their Snap Judgment line. Take someone's picture and it analyzes the likelihood that your subject will betray your secrets, use deodorant, etc. "Fun Pak" includes Original, Fortune, Annoy Me, Girlfriend, Boyfriend, Jail Time, and BFF. The absurdity: snap judgment is a conversation starter. The conversation begins, "There's no way it can know that!" Of course there isn't! Why do you think the Underwear Bomber got through? But voila, ice broken! If you want more categories of judgment, other titles and "paks" are available. Buy the "anthology pak" for $6.99 and let your iPhone judge every social interaction you experience. Then seek counseling.

Just one final note to remember: Although many iPhone apps are compatible with iPod touch and iPad, these apps are not because neither the iPad nor the iPod touch have a built-in camera.

10 Tips For Choosing the Best iPad Docking Stations & iPad Keyboards

Now that you have your new Apple iPad, it's time to start looking around for different Apple accessories that can enhance your multimedia experience with it. Of course, the two most basic iPad accessories that you should think of buying are a good docking station and a suitable keyboard.

A proper docking station will allow you to enjoy reading your favorite e-books or watching your favorite movie on your Apple iPad at a good angle. An Apple keyboard, on the other hand, makes typing long documents or composing emails much easier than tapping out single letters with your fingers on the iPad's screen. With both, your Apple iPad gets transformed into a hi-tech laptop or Netbook. But how do you know what docking station and keyboard to buy among dozens of others available now? Well, below are some tips that you can use to help you get the best iPad docking station and keyboard.

1. Choose a sturdy docking station. You wouldn't want your Apple iPad to suddenly topple over, right? It's best to get a docking station that feels solid and sturdy. It should also be stable enough so that your iPad does not wobble around when placed on it.

2. List down the devices you want to connect to the station. From the dozens of such stations available, choose one that allows you to connect all the devices you need. Some docking stations only allow you to connect an Apple keyboard, while others can let you connect speakers.

3. Choose one that is more than just a glorified stand and charger for your Apple iPad. Get the most out of your money by choosing a docking station that has extra features. The Dragonpod iPad docking station, for instance, has built-in speakers and alarm clock. Some of them even have keyboards attached to them.

4. It's better to choose a docking station that is versatile. When shopping for an iPad dock, go for one that allows you to choose different positions for your Apple iPad. One example is the BookArc for iPad, which allows you to dock your iPad in four different positions.

5. Go for a dock that enhances the coolness factor of your iPad. Why mar the beauty and minimalist design of your Apple iPad with a cheap-looking docking station? Choose a dock that has the simple clean lines and the modern look that has been an Apple standard for years.

6. It's more affordable to get a keyboard dock. Why spend on two separate things when you can get a docking station and an Apple keyboard in one device? Although the official Apple iPad keyboard dock is a bit pricey at $70, it's still cheaper than getting a dock and a keyboard separately.

7. Go with a wireless keyboard if you want portability. Apple Bluetooth keyboards work seamlessly with the iPad. Use this if you want to be able to carry a handy keyboard around with you.

8. Check if the hot keys and command keys work. Make sure that all your favorite Mac shortcuts work with the keyboard and that the hot keys do what they're supposed to do.

9. To save money, don't choose a USB keyboard. Apple iPad users should be warned! The Apple iPad does not have any USB ports, so you cannot connect any USB devices to it.

10. If you want to use a USB keyboard, buy an iPad camera kit. The only way to connect any USB device to your iPad is through the Apple iPad camera kit. It may be advertised as a connecting device for digital cameras, but you can hook up a USB keyboard to your iPad using this kit as well.

Make your experience with your Apple iPad more enjoyable by buying a docking station and a keyboard. Get the most out of your money by using the tips above to help you find only the best.
